JedoxAI User Guide

Overview

JedoxAI is an AI-powered, NLP interface within the Jedox platform. It allows users to interact with their business data through conversational queries, generating reports, summaries, and detailed insights in response to questions. It is designed for end users looking to gain quick insights from the data, and for power users performing more complex, data-driven reporting tasks.

What advantages does JedoxAI offer compared to the standard creation of a Dynatable?

JedoxAI offers a conversational interaction to iteratively build and update a Dynatable without having to recreate the entire context, thus reducing time and effort.

Architecture

JedoxAI is hosted on Microsoft Azure, within Jedox's environment there, and utilizes the Azure OpenAI Service. This means that no cell values need to be sent with user queries to access the AI model, ensuring extra security in its architecture.

Furthermore, Microsoft Azure adheres to strict security standards, including encryption, multi-factor authentication, and regular audits, ensuring that your data privacy is protected.

Below you can see a diagram showing JedoxAI's architecture:

Key concepts

Natural language processing (NLP)

NLP is a sub-area of the artificial intelligence (AI) system. It is primarily focused on language analysis by providing computers with the ability to process data encoded in natural language.

Large language model (LLM)

LLM is an advanced artificial intelligence system that has been trained on large amounts of data using deep learning. It can understand and generate human-like responses based on the input it receives. LLMs generate language instead of analyzing it as traditional NLP does.

Prompt

The prompt is the input text given to your LLM. The goal is to design the prompt in a way that maximizes the effectiveness, accuracy, and usefulness of your LLM's responses. The prompt is often a phrase or question written in a natural language.

Queries

In general, a query refers to a request made to a database or information system to retrieve specific information. In an OLAP database, the data you want to display in a report is stored in multiple dimensions. A query allows you to retrieve data from various dimensions and summarize it for display in a report.

How to use

JedoxAI helps you explore and understand your data without having to write complex formulas or manually set up pivot tables. Simply enter a query and the JedoxAI will do the work for you.

Access

There are two ways to access the JedoxAI from Jedox Web:

  1. Within an existing Dynatable or a when creating a Dynatable from scratch.

Ensure that the database and cube have been selected. Once your Dynatable is ready, click on the JedoxAI button on the upper right side of the screen to open the chat interface where you can enter your prompts.

  1. Within the Drill Anywhere dialog in Jedox Views and on KPI cards in Canvas.

Right-click on any data cell with PALO.DATA formula and hover your cursor over "Drill by…" from the context menu. The JedoxAI button is located on the top right corner of the dialog.

Pivoting data (Dynatable only)

JedoxAI can customize the data displayed in the table. This includes swapping out metrics, changing time periods, or focusing on specific categories.

Examples:

  • “Show me Actual instead of Budget”
  • “Show me the turnover of the last 4 years”

This allows you to quickly reshape your data without having to dig through filters or dropdowns.

Analyze queries (text insights)

Do you want to understand the data better instead of just looking at it differently? Start your prompt with the word “Analyze:” to get insights in plain language.

Examples:

  • "Analyze: What does the sales forecast look like based on past data”
  • “Analyze: Give me key insights on regional revenue”

These responses are provided as text explanations, not as updated tables.

Transform queries

Do you want to create a new table for a specific analytical query according to certain criteria? Use the keyword “Transform:” at the beginning of your prompt.

Example: “Transform: Show me the top 10 products by sales”

This will update your Dynatable with a new layout or filtered view.

Multi-turn conversations

JedoxAI supports multi-turn conversations, which means you can ask follow-up prompts without repeating the entire context. It tracks everything shown on the screen, allowing for deeper analysis.

Examples:

  • “What is shown in the columns”
  • “Can you elaborate more”
Replay a query

You can re-run any previous query by selecting it from the chat history and clicking "Replay". This is useful for returning and comparing results or reapplying something after you have changed the table.

Undo a query

If something has gone wrong or you simply want to go back, type in the command "Undo".

Note that due to a limitation, you must enter the command twice for it to work.

Data summarization

To get a short, intelligent summary of the Dynatable content, click on "Summarize Information".

If you are interested in more details, click on “Open detailed insights” to review the expert-level breakdowns, key trends, and suggested actions.

You can even export the entire report as a PDF to share with your team.

Things to consider

  • JedoxAI can only analyze the data that is displayed in the Dynatable. It cannot retrieve hidden or collapsed data.

  • To achieve the most accurate results possible, it is recommended to drill down to base-level elements before entering a prompt.

  • The JedoxAI model is actively evolving, it improves continuously through user interaction and feedback.

  • Its development is ongoing, some users may occasionally experience inaccurate responses in its current capabilities.

  • User input directly contributes to the model’s learning process and refinement.

  • We are regularly improving JedoxAI's precision and relevance. If you have any feedback or ideas, you are welcome to share them with us via the Ideas Portal.
