You can integrate Jedox financial planning and forecasting with SAP Business Technology Platform to achieve more efficient processes. There are two options for connecting to a SAP system, each of which offers different extraction possibilities.
Option 1: Connection via sRFC
This is a standard solution from SAP via synchronous Remote function calls (sRFC) using the Jedox SAP Connection (JCo). Jedox defines its own extract types within the Jedox SAP Connector to easily retrieve SAP data and load it into Jedox.
To enable Jedox SAP Connector for this option, you must install SAP Transport Packages, provided by Jedox , on the SAP machine.
In the SAP system, queries are raised in one single work process. This should not slow down SAP performance.
The connection type SAP connection is used for this option.
Extract types for sRFC connection
To extract data from SAP Data Dictionary Tables and arbitrary Remote Function Calls (RFCs), there are two generic extract types. They can be used for any SAP Netweaver-based system (SAP R/3, S/4HANA, ERP, CRM, SCM…):
To extract data from SAP ERP Systems, SAP R/3, or S/4HANA, there are 3 specific extract types. To use these extracts, it is necessary to install the transport package for SAP ERP.
To extract data from SAP Business Warehouse systems (SAP BW/BI) there are 4 specific extract types. To use these extracts, it is necessary to install the transport package for SAP BW.
Option 2: Connection via JDBC for SAP Hana
This option establishes a direct connection for the SAP Hana database via the JDBC protocol. A technical user is required on the SAP Hana database. This option does NOT require any installation of SAP transport packages.
The connection type SAP Hana connection is used for this option.
Extract types for JDBC connection
The standard extract types of Jedox Integrator for reading data from any relational database can be used, provided the necessary authorizations are available in the SAP Hana system. All tables and SAP calculation views can be extracted in this way.
Jedox also offers a Hana-specific extract type that enables functionality of Hana Calculation Views. This includes enhanced value helps, use of Hana View variables and input parameters, and the option to trace queries raised from Integrator on SAP-side.
