Importing and Exporting PB and WSS Files

In Designer you can import or export any file with the buttons Import (on the tool bar) and Export (using the right mouse button).

Jedox's own file types are PB files and WSS files.

All other file type imports are saved statically in the Designer. They can be provided as a download in an application with the hyperlink function. Statically stored files in Designer can be exported again outside of Jedox Web with the command Export.

PB Files

PB file (PALO Bundle) is the package export file type of Jedox.

You can find the Export and Import commands on the context menu after right-clicking on a folder or a file. Starting from a folder, the command Export will create a PB file.

Additionally, in the Reports component the commands Export All Folder Groups and Export Folder Group are available.

In Reports, the command Export also takes the required files of the Designer component into the package.

You can import a PB file as an entire package again. By default, the maximum file size for import is 128 megabytes. This value can be changed by Jedox Support.

During the import, the contents of the PB file will be displayed:

The following message is displayed:

You can also display an import log:

Note: When you export and import root folders separately, the resource workbook connection between them is lost.

If the export also includes framesets, then select the folder you want to export so that all the framesets used in workbooks are included.

The access rights for the exported hierarchy are included in the bundle, but are only applied during import if the user group exists in the system in which the bundle is imported.

During import, the internal item IDs are rewritten if possible (or if necessary). As hyperlinks between workbooks are based on these IDs, some hyperlinks may not work after import. This only affects hyperlinks created with the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog, not the HYPERLINK() formula. Hyperlinks within a workbook are not affected by this either.

WSS Files

With the command Export, you can save WSS files outside of Jedox Web.

If WSS files were not created in your Jedox application and cannot be displayed in Jedox Web, they cannot simply be copied to the storage folder, as their existence must be noted in the associated Jedox database. WSS files must therefore always be imported correctly.

Import allows WSS files created in other environments to be integrated into your Jedox Web. When imported, they will appear in Designer, where you can open and edit them.
