Design Tab in Jedox Ribbon

The Design tab in the Jedox Ribbon provides a comprehensive set of tools for formatting and structuring your spreadsheet. It enhances the visual presentation of data while offering efficient navigation and customization options.

Below is an overview of the available features in this tab:

Basic Editing Functions

Save

Ensures that any changes made to the workbook are saved. Regularly saving your work prevents data loss.

Undo & Redo

Allows users to revert or reapply recent actions:

  • Click the Undo or Redo arrows to navigate through previous changes.

  • Use the dropdown menu beside these icons to selectively undo or redo specific actions, including changes made to particular cells.

Formatting Tools

Format Painter

Copies the formatting of a selected cell or range and applies it to another area, ensuring consistency in design.

Copy Options (Dropdown: Cut, Paste, Paste Special)

  • Copy: Duplicates the selected content.

  • Cut: Moves the selected content.

  • Paste: Inserts copied or cut content.

  • Paste Special: Provides additional paste options, such as pasting only values, formulas, or formatting.

Font & Font Size

  • Choose a font style to customize text appearance.

  • Adjust font size to enhance readability.

Bold, Italic, Underline

Quickly apply emphasis to text using:

  • Bold (B) for strong emphasis.

  • Italic (I) for slanted text.

  • Underline (U) to highlight content.

Borders

  • Apply cell borders to define and separate data visually.

  • Choose different border styles and colors for customization.

Fill Color & Font Color

  • Fill Color: Adds a background color to selected cells.

  • Font Color: Changes the text color to improve visibility or match a theme.

Item Lock/Unlock

Locks or unlocks specific spreadsheet items, restricting or enabling edits for selected elements.

Format Text

Provides advanced text formatting options to enhance readability and structure.

Text Alignment

Aligns cell content: Left, Center, Right for horizontal positioning.

Merge & Unmerge Cells

  • Merge Cells: Combines multiple cells into a single larger cell.

  • Unmerge Cells: Splits merged cells back into individual cells.

Conditional Formatting

Applies dynamic formatting rules based on cell values. For example:

  • Highlighting negative values in red.

  • Using color scales to differentiate data ranges.

Cell Styles

Allows quick application of pre-designed formatting styles for a consistent look and feel across the spreadsheet.

Navigation & Utility Functions

Clear

Removes specific elements from a selected range:

  • Clear all: Removes content, formatting, and comments.

  • Clear formats: Deletes formatting but keeps content.

  • Clear contents: Deletes only the data while retaining formatting.

Go To

  • Quickly jump to a specific cell or range by entering its reference.

  • Useful for navigating large datasets efficiently.

Find & Replace

  • Find: Locates specific text or values within the sheet.

  • Replace: Substitutes found content with new text or values.

Advanced Design Features

Designer Preview

  • Provides a real-time preview of the spreadsheet layout.

  • Helps in reviewing formatting changes before applying them.

Open User Mode

  • Switches to user mode, allowing a view of the spreadsheet as an end user would see it.

  • Useful for verifying the final presentation of a designed spreadsheet.
