Jedox Planning Visual for Power BI

The Jedox Planning Visual for Power BI is a custom visual designed to bring Jedox analysis and planning capabilities directly into the Power BI environment.

The Visual interacts with Jedox Dynatables inside Power BI, enabling users to view, edit, and submit data directly to the Jedox Database. This eliminates the need to switch between Power BI and the Jedox Web interface for planning tasks.

We created this visual to:

  • Improve the planning workflow for Power BI users
  • Enable real-time data updates (writeback) into Jedox from within Power BI
  • Make it easier to combine reporting and planning in one place

Technical requirements

The visual uses Microsoft’s Authentication API to enable Single Sign-On (SSO) and ensure secure access to Jedox data from within Power BI. Before installing the visual, the following steps must be completed:

1. Microsoft Entra ID, ISV consent.

Independent Software Vendor (ISV) consent. The Jedox Custom Visual uses Microsoft Entra ID for authentication. To enable SSO, a Microsoft Entra ID administrator must grant ISV consent to the Jedox application. This consent process occurs outside of Power BI and must be completed before users can authenticate. Learn more about ISV consent and Entra ID authentication.

The Application (client) ID of Jedox Azure App Registration: ccfef73c-7891-4b50-b324-53478cc80cb7. This ID is required for tenant-wide consent in Microsoft enterprise apps.

2. Power BI configuration

To use the Jedox Planning Visual for Power BI, you must have an active Power BI Custom Visual license. Contact your CSM or Jedox Sales rep for details. Once you have purchased your license, installation instructions will be sent to you.
