Insert – SUCCESS Chart

SUCCESS charts are business graphics that are based on the principles of “information design” by Prof. Rolf Hichert.
SUCCESS is the abbreviation of SAY, UNIFY, CONDENSE, CHECK, ENABLE, SIMPLIFY and STRUCTURE.
Further explanations about SUCCESS rules you will find at www.hichert.com.

There exists the following types: simple bar charts, column deviation charts, line-, waterfall- and bubble-charts. These are available in both Jedox frontends (Jedox Excel Add-in and Jedox Web) and they can be transferred with the worksheets between the two frontends.

In folder “C:\Users\Public\Documents\Jedox\Jedox Suite” (Windows 10) you will find the file “SUCCESS-charts.xlsx”. In this file are the following examples of SUCCESS charts:
Waterfall Chart, Bubble Chart, Deviation Column Chart, Single Bar Chart and Line Bar Chart.

In Excel spreadsheets and in Jedox spreadsheets the steps to create a SUCCESS chart are the same.
There are only the following two differences:
1.) To receive the buttons to format chart elements in Excel you have to select the chart and then to click the button “SUCCESS Charts” once more. In Jedox spreadsheet you receive this possibilities with the command “Format Chart Properties…” which you get after right click on a chart.
2.) On workbooks with static data, where no Excel formulas are used, SUCCESS charts won’t be updated automatically on change of source data because Excel does not recalculate the workbook in this case. Workaround is to create any formula in the workbook to enforce recalculation of the workbook (e.g. enter in any cell the function TODAY()).
