Cost Center Model Overview

Return to Models Overview

The Cost Center Model addresses financial amounts assigned to cost centers. The Cost Center  cube is used to collect planning data by the cost centers and to assess the the cost center performance. The stored amounts are mostly costs that are aligned to a  Cost Type hierarchy, which may also include revenue lines, if these apply to the cost centers as well. In addition to the Cost Type hierarchy, the financial data is also aligned to the Cost Center hierarchy. Both hierarchies, Cost Center and Cost Type, can be configured by the user. Facts are stored in the main cube, Cost Center. Amounts are stored in source currency and can be converted into one or multiple reporting currencies. Actuals may be imported from financial accounting source systems or entered manually. Collection processes that involve users being responsible for a cost center can be controlled by an approval workflow.
